The Shaw Shooting curriculum teaches our students how to simply shoot faster, to be more accurate, and to utilize the manipulation of their weapons in the most efficient manner possible.

1 Day Shaw Shooting/Washington Street Pawn Men's and Women's ONLY Pistol Course: CLOSED

This Course will be divided into Men and Women groups. Both Groups will be on the same campus but rotate to different ranges throughout the day.

Please include your total party size for the class if you are bringing more people under “party size” as we have a maximum of 28 students per class.

Required Student Skill Level:

This class is for the first time female shooter through the advanced female marksman.

Class Information:

The class will be focused on detailed fundamentals which include SAFETY, work space, sight alignment, high ready presentations, stance, grip, slack out method, trigger press, trigger reset, trigger prep, single action, double action, grip pressure, loading, controlled recoil, and recoil management.

After the students can demonstrate proper and safe gun handling fundamentals, the live fire portion will begin with shooting close-range paper and steel targets to ensure accurate bullet impact awareness and correct shooting fundamentals.

An Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons Permit Certificate can be given to all clients at the conclusion of the class.

End of Class Objective:

This class is designed to build safe habits and to ensure absolute comfort and confidence with a firearm.

Cost, Time, and Location:

$200 per student. (See ‘Lodging’ above if interested in staying at Shaw Shooting or in Hagerman)

We require a half deposit of each students course fee ASAP.  We will give each client a 30-day grace period before the start of the class if a client would like to cancel her spot.  The deposit is non-refundable if the client cancels within 30 days of the class.  Mail a check, cash, or money order deposit to Shaw Shooting at 834 East 2700 South, Hagerman, ID 83332.  We can also receive a payment over the phone via credit card.  208-481-0085

The class will start at the Shaw Shooting Pro Shop on Sunday at 9:00am, will end at 4:00pm, and there will be a 1 hour lunch break around 12:00pm-1:00pm.  Lunch will be provided at the Shaw Shooting Pro-Shop.

What to Bring:

In the past, women taking this class have utilized an array of different autos and revolvers as well as different calibers of each. Please feel free to bring whatever pistol you have to the class and we will adapt our instruction to the type of pistols in that class.  We also have many different handguns for you to try out if you are unsure of the gun that you want to purchase.

We would like all students to bring a pistol with at least 2 magazines, magazine pouches, holster, belt, ear protection, and eye protection.

Students need to bring a minimum of 250 rounds.

We have a pro-shop at the Shaw Shooting range if equipment and ammunition is needed.  Additionally, if you forget or are unable to acquire some of the required equipment, such as holsters, magazine pouches, etc., we can rent equipment out for $10.00 per day.  Firearm rentals are $25.00 per day.

Metal Mania: CLOSED

Required Student Skill Level:

You must have completed the 'Level 1 & 2 Pistol Courses', 'Level 1 Rifle Course', and '2 Day Pistol+Rifle Course'.

Sign-Up: CLOSED

Class Information:

You are now a seasoned marksman and have a great understanding of the pistol and rifle fundamentals. You've paid your dues, and now it's time to join the Metal Mania Crew to compete for bragging rights. Metal Mania was created to turn it up and burn it down. Each range will have a pistol and a rifle leader board for the fastest time ever shot on that range. When you establish yourself as 'board member' you will receive a leader patch and your name will be displayed for all to see. You will need to fight to keep your spot on on the board.    

End of Class Objective:

Bragging rights, and loads of fun.  

Cost, Time, and Location:

The course fee is $75, not including ammunition or lodging. (See ‘Lodging’ above) 

The class will start at the Shaw Shooting Pro Shop at 9:00am, will end at 4:00pm, and there will be a 1 hour lunch break around 12:00pm-1:00pm both days.  Please bring your own lunch or you can go into Hagerman. 

What to Bring:

Please bring a rifle, rifle sling, 2 - 3 magazines, mag pouches, belt, pistol, 2 - 3 pistol magazines, magazine pouches, ear protection, and eye protection.

After the students can demonstrate proper and safe gun handling fundamentals, the live fire portion will begin with shooting close-range paper targets to ensure accurate bullet impact awareness and correct shooting fundamentals.  The class will advance through the steel ranges as the class progresses its ability.  An Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons Permit Certificate can be given to all clients at the conclusion of the class.

1 Day Rifle+Pistol Course: CLOSED

Required Student Skill Level:

The ‘1 Day Rifle+Pistol Course’ is only available to those clients who have previously taken both our ‘1 Day Level 2 Pistol Course’ and our ‘1 Day Level 1 Rifle Course’.  Additionally, the Shaw Shooting cadre can grant permission to enroll into this course.

Class Information:

Students will be taught weapons handling to gain fluid transitions between pistol to rifle and rifle to pistol.  6 drills of "Operator Standards" are taught to each student, with each drill having a required hit under an allotted time limit. The 1 day class will involve a review of the 6 drills on short paper ranges followed by steel target shooting on multiple pistol/rifle ranges.  The drills from the first day will be used on steel ranges engraining technique into your pistol/rifle shooting.  All shooters will be tested on the 6 "Operator Standard" drills at the end class. 

End of Class Objective:

This class will give you fluid weapon handling skills to efficiently transition between rifle to pistol and pistol back to rifle.  Once you have completed this course of fire you are cleared to join Metal Mania.

Cost, Time, and Location:

The course fee is $175, not including ammunition or lodging. (See ‘Lodging’ above)

  All clients in this class have previously been through the pistol fundamentals (Level 1 or Idaho ECWP) thus we will spend the first part of this class quickly reviewing each shooters fundamentals and then we will proceed to the various steel target ranges.  The idea of the class is to re-sharpen technique and add to a shooter's skill set.  We will cover reloads (combat/tactical) and draws. We will introduce you to shot timers and a multitude of steal ranges to increase your skill level.  

An Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons Permit Certificate can be given to all clients at the conclusion of the class.

End of Class Objective:

The firearm class typically will go from 9:00am to 3:00pm but some certain classes may vary.  Please check the specific time for the class you are enrolled.  NO LUNCH IS PROVIDED

Shaw Shooting Range in Hagerman:
We'll meet in Hagerman at the Snake River Grill at the time which is specific to the class that you enrolled, gather the group, and from there we will go to the Shaw Shooting range. The Snake River Grill is off Main St. on the southwest corner of town, across from the Shell gas station.

What to Bring:

*Please go out and test your firearm to make sure it properly functions before you come to the class.

*** Make sure to bring your "Training Certificate" if you have already obtained one from Legal Heat, so we can sign off the "firearms portion". If you have not yet received a certificate, we will provide you with one after the completion of this class.

We would like all students to bring an auto or revolver pistol. (NO 357’s unless you have 38-special ammunition, and NO 44 magnums) In addition to your pistol; bring at least 1 magazine, magazine pouch (pant pockets are fine), belt, holster that is secure to your belt/securely fits the firearm (no cross draw holsters), ear protection, and eye protection.

Students need to bring enough ammunition to shoot 98 rounds.

Metal Mania: CLOSED

Class Information:

You are now a seasoned marksman and have a great understanding of the pistol and rifle fundamentals. You've paid your dues, and now it's time to join the Metal Mania Crew to compete for bragging rights. Metal Mania was created to turn it up and burn it down. Each range will have a pistol and a rifle leader board for the fastest time ever shot on that range. When you establish yourself as 'board member' you will receive a leader patch and your name will be displayed for all to see. You will need to fight to keep your spot on on the board.    

End of Class Objective:

Bragging rights, and loads of fun.  

Cost, Time, and Location:

The course fee is $75, not including ammunition or lodging. (See ‘Lodging’ above)
